PRESS RELEASE APRIL 2006
X-41 ONE DESIGN
FROM X-YACHTS OF DENMARK
Builders of successful One Design racing yachts
Back in 1979, X-Yachts introduced the still popular X-79 and later, in 1985, the X-99 One Design was developed. Both yachts became large "European One Design Classes" and they are still active in many countries.
The IMX 38, IMX 40 and IMX 45 racing yachts were primarily built for handicap racing under IMS and IRC, where they achieved convincing results. The IMX 40 and IMX 45 incorporated carbon mast, boom and wheel, as well as a magic wheel for tuning the backstay, developed by X-Yachts and Ronstan.
X-35 One Design is the latest proof
At X-Yachts we are proud of the new X-35 One Design Class success. The yacht was introduced in Winter 2004/2005, in the same way as we are now introducing the new X-41 One Design: via drawings, specifications and a competitive price. Before the first hull was launched, almost 120 units were sold to sailors who wanted to join a new "One Design Class" and who trusted that the new X-35 project had the necessary qualities to reach its goal speedily and successfully.
Is the X-41 One Design becoming an international One Design Class?
X-Yachts firmly believes that the X-41 One Design will be yet another hit on the European sailing scene. Compared to any other model on the market, the X-41 One Design will be sporting the latest within fast hull and appendage design; a non overlapping headsail configuration; double spreader, carbon mast and boom from one of Europe’s leading suppliers; large diameter carbon wheel; all trimlines leading to both sides of the coach roof; and a backstay adjustment run via the Magic Wheel, as on the IMX 40, IMX 45 and X-35.
A safe investment
One important reason why the X-41 One Design is a safe investment is that X-Yachts truly understands the need to design not just a fast racer, but also one which will appeal to sailors who recognise that a few special design features, such as a suitably comfortable interior for the whole family, will ensure a better investment than normally found in a racing yacht. A dual-purpose yacht will attract more owners to the class and, very soon, a large fleet of One Design Racers will be established and running.
The aim is to launch hull 01 and 02 in December 2006. After rigorous test sailing by the X-Yachts test crew, the actual production is planned to begin in February 2007, with deliveries of not less than twenty-five X-41’s before Summer 2007 and a running production of a minimum of two units per week.
